Cooking can be one of the best ways to make time go faster! So, we compiled a list of must-indulge-in recipes you can keep yourself occupied with.
If your bread is feeling a little stale, look no further! This recipe provides you with a simple, yet delish breakfast in under 15 minutes!
What you need:
6 slices of bread
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk or cream
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Splash of vanilla extract
Butter and vegetable oil for cooking
Cast iron/ skillet
For the batter:
Step 1: Break the eggs into a wide bowl and whisk together until its fully mixed together.
Step 2: Add milk and sugar into your eggs and continue whisking until incorporated. Make sure everything is evenly mixed—you don’t want plain white yolks on your eggs, ladies!
Step 3: Add cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract to taste, then continue whisking.
Step 4: Prepare a cast iron or skillet; set it over medium heat.
Step 5: Butter your bread on both sides and soak it in your mixture. Remember, there’s a thing called over-soaking, so I would suggest 15 seconds on each side to do the trick!
Step 6: Slice some butter into your skillet and patiently wait till it’s golden brown (burn it a little bit)
Step 7: Transfer your bread to the pan and cook until golden brown.
Serve with honey/ maple syrup and fresh fruit for that added oomph!
Perfect scrambled eggs
Who knew scrambled eggs could be so easy to cook yet so yummy at the same time. Follow this recipe for your perfect, creamy scrambled eggs!
Half an onion finely chopped
Half a green chilli thinly sliced (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Okay, ladies remember, in order to execute your perfect scrambled eggs, you need patience!
For the eggs:
Step 1: Crack the eggs into a bowl and thoroughly whisk until you no longer see the whites floating about.
Step 2: Add the chopped onions, chilli (optional), and salt and pepper to taste. Then continue whisking until incorporated. Set the non- stick pan over medium heat.
Step 3: Reduce the heat to low, then pour in your egg mixture.
Step 4: Don’t disturb the eggs until it lightly starts to set around the edges.
Step 5: Push the lightly setting eggs into the centre.
Step 6: Continue this process until eggs are cooked! (make sure you take them off the pan while it’s slightly undercooked because your eggs will continue cooking for a few minutes once off the pan as well!)
Voila! Consume while it’s still hot and indulge in the best-scrambled eggs you’ll ever have!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been craving that fried chicken since we can no longer step out to indulge in our favorite fast food. This recipe is a little more complicated than the others. Why? It requires around 2 days of preparation, but, trust me, it’s totally worth it!
(This recipe serves 2)
What you’ll need:
A deep pan
3 cups of vegetable oil
For the marination
One and a half cup of buttermilk (add 1-2 tablespoons of the juice of a lime to your regular milk and this works just as fine)
Salt and pepper
Spices (thuna paha, turmeric and chilli powder)
One onion, sliced
One green chilli, sliced
Chicken legs, thighs, wings or breast (2 each)
Incorporate everything into a bowl, cover it with with clingfilm and pop it in the fridge. Marinate it for 24 hours for optimal flavour!
For the batter, you will need:
Step 1 : Combine chilli powder, turmeric and flour until evenly mixed.
Step 2 : Crack egg into a separate bowl and whisk thoroughly.
Step 3 : Transfer your chicken from the marinade onto the flour and completely coat. Then, dip the coated chicken into your egg and coat again with flour. Repeat the process until all your chicken pieces are good to go!
Step 4: Heat the oil on medium heat until you hear it sizzling.
Step 5: Lower the heat, then add your coated chicken.
Step 6: Cook each piece for 10-15 minutes.
Serve while hot with honey or mayonnaise!
The Dalgona coffee
This coffee trend has taken over the entire digital world and rightly so!
All you will need are…
Half a glass of cold milk
1 tbs of Nescafe (or your choice of ground coffee)
1 tbs of sugar
1 tbs of hot water
Step 1: Mix the coffee, sugar and water into a small bowl and begin whisking. The process will be easier and faster if you use your electric mixer (trust us on this). Whip till soft peaks form!
Step 2: Add the whipped coffee onto your cold milk!
p.s: Dust some Cadbury chocolate powder on top if you’re feeling a little fancay!
