You’ll need a moment to process this heartbreaking information…

It’s official! Prince Harry and Megan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, are planning to step back as “Senior” members of the royal family and aim to become “financially independent”. The announcement was made on January 8th, 2020, just a day after their 1st post-holidays public appearance.

The couple took to their official Instagram page to release a statement, “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty the Queen,”.

What’s even more shocking, is that, they allegedly didn’t even tell the royal family in advance…talk about being ballsy. A royal correspondent from BBC News went on to say that, “BBC understands that no other member of the Royal Family was consulted before Harry and Meghan issued their personal statement tonight, the Palace is understood to be ‘disappointed’”.

We’ve also managed to catch some hilarious and on-point reactions from various celebs who voiced their sentiments on social media accounts. Amy Schumer took to her Instagram to say, “Chris and I are formally stepping out from our royal duties. We appreciate your support”.
