We collaborated with the talented Lonali Rodrigo, founder and head designer of House of Lonali, to create a sustainable piece for Cosmo’s fashion campaign, ‘Sustainability Meets Style’.

Here are some inspiring insights that can change the way you look at waste.

  1. According to the designer, a pioneer in all things related to upcycling fashion, sustainability is a powerful tool that can positively impact our environment and society.
  2. The team at House Of Lonali chose polythene as the material to make the dress since it’s one of the biggest pollutants of the environment. So they used waste polythene bags to give out the message of reusing them instead of throwing them away.
  3. The idea of making a different kind of silhouette out of polythene was challenging. But, after loads of experimentation and persistence, they were able to create a skater dress with a unique texture. From afar, it actually looks like a cool knit dress!
  4. To make a change through sustainable fashion, the designer asks other businesses to use up at least a little from the waste and create something creative out of it.
