If you can't find a corkscrew...
Sometimes the only thing that can get in the way of opening a bottle of wine after a bad day is not being able to find the corkscrew.
So what do you do once you’ve tried the old ‘against the edge of the table’ trick and still, no joy? You use your shoe of course!
This nifty trick to help you open a bottle and it can be done in just three easy steps:
1,. Place a bottle of wine in a flat shoe.
2. Bash the flat shoe with the wine in it against the wall – the shoe will protect your wine bottle from smashing, but make sure not to slam it too hard.
3. Watch as your cork is pushed out and when it’s nearly there, yank it out with your hand.
It works because the sloshing wine is pushed against the corkscrew with force, while a flat shoe provides enough cushioning to prevent you from smashing your wine bottle against a wall.
Don’t believe us? Watch for yourself:
Just be careful when banging objects made of glass against hard surfaces – and if using this trick for a house party we’d recommend opening all the bottles you’ll need before you start drinking!
