Humidity can kill your straightened hair faster than you can say Brazilian Blowout, but all is not lost.
What You *Shouldn’t* Be Doing
Using Shampoos That Have Sulfate
If your hair is uber oily, then sulfates are great for removing that extra grease. But if you already have dry, coarse hair, sulfates could dry it out even further, and make it frizz. Look for shampoos that are sulfate-free but contain glycerin, which is great at controlling frizz by hydrating the hair shaft fully and adding a protective layer, preventing breakage.
Skipping The Conditioner
Conditioner is an important aid in adding moisture to your hair. While different conditioners are used to accomplish varying hair goals (volumizing, detangling etc.), when it comes to de-frizzing your hair, look for conditioners that have enriching ingredients such as keratin.
Adding Too Much Heat
Using your hair dryer or iron on ‘High’ removes all the moisture from your locks, dehydrating them, and (yup) bringing on that wiry frizziness. Wait till your hair is at least 70-90% dry before you use heat on it, and even then use a diffuser so that the heat is evenly distributed.
Combing Through Your Hair While It’s Dry Brushing dry hair makes it static-y and therefore leads to frizz, so avoid this mistake by combing through while your hair is still wet. Another good trick is to bend your head upside down, brushing from the roots to the ends, thereby distributing the oils from your scalp to the rest of your hair.
What You *Should* Be Doing
Applying A Hair Mask Once A Week
Use a hydrating mask on your hair once a week to get rid of all the product buildup that could contribute to frizz. Deep conditioning masks are also great at keeping your hair hydrated and feeling soft (and silky) for longer.

Investing In Some Styling Cream and Hair Oil These create a protective layer around your hair shafts, locking in moisture while preventing any liquids from seeping in. If your hair is looking particularly dry, oils and creams are great for making your hair look healthier and shinier, transforming limp tresses into glossy, lustworthy locks. Apply these products from your mid-lengths to your ends. If your hair is thicker or courser, start from your roots.
