Here's a low-down on vlogs
It wasn’t very long ago that everyone was talking about blogging and how important it was for individuals and corporates to get in the game. Fast forward a couple of years and blogging has evolved from its primary form into a more visual one. Nowadays it is all about ‘vlogging’, or rather video blogging.
Why has vlogging become so popular?
There are over a billion unique monthly visitors on YouTube making it the second largest search engine. Out of this billion, an average user watches 186 videos every month. And to bust the myth that it’s only youngsters who watch videos, according to a recent poll YouTube’s majority age demographic is between 18 and 54 years. Which means your mum/aunt/uncle is as taken with video as your tween cousin.
As a result, video promotion is 6x more effective than print promotion and according to marketers, online video is 5.33x more effective than text alone.
With a mixture of amazing content and effective anchors, vlogs have become an ideal vehicle for organic branding and tastemaking. The biggest YouTube vlogger in the world, Good Mythical Mornings has over 10 million subscribers and has more than 2.33 billion views.
Getting the stats straight!
Vlogging has shown an immense 300% growth in the last four years. With the increase in vlogging, users went from watching only 30 mins of video content per day in 2011 to watching close to 2 hours of video content per day in 2015.
Brands and vlogging
Brands now partner with different vloggers for brand exposure and increased sales. Different brands send their goods to a popular vlogger who then reviews those products. A vlogger adds a human feel to product experience so consumers get a better insight to what the product can be and how it may be used. One little vlogger can do a lot!
Check out these…. and see the impact they can have on brands and their products. Pretty cool huh?
